There are few inland navigation topics that have dominated the media in recent months as much as inland navigation vessel berths. Be it in relation to the loss of existing attractive inner-city berths, the shortage of car dropping locations, the impact of noise and pollutant emissions by vessels at berth on local residents and inner-city air quality, or in relation to future requirements such as the mandatory use of shore power at individual berths. It was to discuss this that representatives from 10 European countries and inland navigation associations met in Vienna from 8 to 9 November 2018.
