EASA Capacity Building

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is an EU agency with regulatory and executive tasks in the field of civil aviation. The ETF has been active in the EASA system since the very beginning both at the political and rulemaking level. A number of ETF experts have been involved in the individual rulemaking groups.

The aim of the project was for the ETF to further increase the capacity of its members to interact with EASA.

Key activities of the project

  • Introductory workshop (11 – 13/04/18, Malta)
  • Horizontal workshop (26 – 27/09/18, Zagreb)
  • Joint Aircrew workshop (20 – 22-02/19, Warsaw)
  • ATM workshop (13 – 15/03/19, Madrid)
  • Ground Staff Workshop (20 – 22/03/19, Berlin)
  • Final Conference (19 – 20/11/20/19, Dublin)

The main result of the project is the training package on EASA which consists of a number of modules covering all aspects of the workers’ involvement with the Agency.

The project helped to upskill the members of the ETF Civil Aviation Section (CAS) and gave them tools to better interact with EASA and their National Aviation Authorities. The group of ETF members involved directly with EASA in the governance structures and rulemaking groups has risen to 35 – 40 people, depending on the work programme of the Agency.
