Road industry’s bad players scared straight by Mobility Package

End of 2020, seven Member States – Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Lithuania, Malta, Poland and Romania – challenged the Mobility Package in court. 15 court cases were opened against the Council and the European Parliament who in July last year adopted the Package with a large majority. Such action just goes to show how important this Package is, in restoring social and economic fair play in the road transport sector which for decades had been ripped apart by social fraud, human slavery and unfair competition between operators.

ETF welcomes MEPs’ green light for Mobility Package

MEPs cast their final vote today on the much-awaited Mobility Package, a massive reform of the EU rules governing road transport. The positive vote brings a series of European measures aimed at combating social dumping practices in the transport sector and solidifies the tireless work of ETF towards shaping a fairer road transport sector.

Mobility Package: ETF statement on today’s TRAN Committee vote

The TRAN Committee of the European Parliament voted in favour of the trilogue result reached on 12 December. The Mobility Package is on its way to being adopted, the next steps are to be confirmed. In the meantime, ETF will continue to endeavour assiduously to close legal gaps, and offer our members and professional drivers across Europe real solutions.

Mobility Package: ETF Statement on the trilogue outcome

The European Transport Workers’ Federation acknowledges that an agreement was reached on the Mobility Package between the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament this morning, in trilogue. Vehicle activity in the ‘home’ country – the real problem

One of the gemstones of the European Parliament agreement on the Mobility Package is this: all heavy goods vehicles shall perform at least one loading or one unloading of goods every four weeks in the Member States of establishment. This is so effective in combating letter-box companies, it has recently become subject to attacks as the Mobility Package enters now the critical stage of Institutional negotiations. So, what’s the real problem?
