Today, the TRAN Committee of the European Parliament voted in favour of the trilogue result reached on 12 December with the Finnish Presidency, on behalf of the Council of Ministers of Transport. (Refresher on trilogue result here.)
In light of the many positive aspects of the Package, we welcome the result of this vote which keeps it on the path to adoption. We acknowledge that the Package brings effective answers to a considerable number of problems that the road sector faces today.
However, the ETF has clear reservations on the trilogue outcome with regard to driving and rest time. But at this stage, the positive vote, in our view, was the only possible way to secure a basis to further build on the trilogue result, and improve the situation in the sector.
In the months to come, the ETF will continue to endeavour assiduously to close legal gaps, and offer our members and professional drivers across Europe real solutions.
