In civil aviation, the ETF represents the interests of around 386 000 workers across the industry. As such, it promotes solidarity, cooperation, joint action and understanding among the European civil aviation trade unions that are affiliated with the ETF.
ETF’s aviation work is led by several governing bodies:
The Civil Aviation Section adopts the policy, work programme and resolutions. It meets twice a year, and it elects the President, three Vice-Presidents, four ordinary Steering Committee members, a Women’s Representative and a Youth Representative. It also sets up committees and working groups as needed.
The Steering Committee develops the policies and promotes the section’s policies and positions between formal meetings. It is elected every four years, meets every quarter and proposes an annual budget. The current steering committee is:
The ETF Civil Aviation Section currently has three committees:
Each committee provides the Civil Aviation Section with the views of the ETF affiliate unions working in these fields of the aviation sector. The committees elect Chairs who represent their interests in the Civil Aviation Steering Committee. Together with the respective Committee Chair, the ETF Political Secretary for Civil Aviation coordinates the work of each Committee.
