The ETF Women’s Committee was created in May 2001 in Zagreb, by a decision of the 1st ETF Ordinary Congress. It is an ETF policymaking body.
The ETF Women’s Conference takes place once every 5 years in conjunction with the ETF Congress.
In 2022, on the occasion of ETF’s 6th Congress, the ETF Women’s Committee underwent a number of changes to ensure more engagement from ETF’s members: the election of an ETF Women’s Steering Committee, and the opening of the ETF Women’s Committee to all affiliated unions declaring women’s membership.
The ETF Women’s Committee consists of women transport trade union representatives from each affiliated ETF union declaring women membership, meaning each affiliated union declaring women membership shall have the right to participate in the work of the Women’s Committee.

The 8 members of the ETF Women’s Steering Committee and the Chair of the ETF Women’s Committee will represent women transport workers in the ETF Executive Committee and are members of the ETF Executive Committee.
The ETF Women’s Committee Chair also represents women transport workers in the ETF Management Committee.
