At their meeting held on 21 October 2014, the EU social partners in the port sector have adopted a document setting the objectives of their future work on training and qualifications. The social partners’ main aim is to develop guidelines for the establishment of training requirements that take into consideration the future training needs of the sector in light of technological and logistical changes and changes in customer demand. Recommendations on women’s employment in the sector were also agreed upon during the meeting. These recommendations engage social partners at European, national and local level to cooperate in order to promote equal opportunities and support female employment in the sector.
